Rosemary
Rosemary oil contains carnosic acid, rosmarinic acid, and other compounds that have been linked to inducing hair growth in preclinical studies. A clinical study has shown that rosemary oil increased hair count to the same extent as low-dose minoxidil (2%) after 6 months of use but with less scalp itching.
Colloidal Oats
Naturally rich in beta-glucans, lipids, proteins, and antioxidant compounds known as avenanthramides, colloidal oatmeal has been clinically shown to significantly improve skin pH, barrier function, and hydration, as well as enhance the skin microbiome composition. It is recognized by the U.S. FDA as an over-the-counter skin protectant and approved for the temporary relief of eczema symptoms.
Saw Palmetto
Saw palmetto contains phytosterols and lipids that have been linked to inhibition of hair thinning and prolongation of the hair growth phase. Clinical studies have shown that continuous topical use of saw palmetto extract modestly reduced hair shedding and increased hair density.
Bakuchiol
Bakuchiol is a compound derived from Psoralea corylifolia (Bakuchi or Babchi plant). It is a gentle alternative to retinol that has been clinically shown to deliver the same wrinkle surface area and hyperpigmentation reduction but with less stinging, scaling and dryness. Unlike retinol, which degrades rapidly under sunlight and can cause sun sensitivity, purified Bakuchiol is photostable. This means it can safely be worn during the day but combining with sunscreen is still highly recommended.
